Our Investigation

As part of our inquiry unit 'Masterchef' we are investigating types of food and deciding whether they are healthy or unhealthy.
Today we went out to our vegetable patch where we planted vegetables and herbs last term. Our task was to investigate the types of vegetables that we planted and how they are growing. We listed the vegetables and herbs -

*beans
*parsley
*cabbage
*beetroot
*carrots
*chives
*spinach
*spring onions
*rosemary
*coriander
*capsicum
*broccoli
*leeks

When we came back in to our classroom we had to share recipes that we thought we could create using some of these vegetables. Some of the recipes we came up with were beetroot chips, vegetable soup, vegetable spring rolls, roast lamb with rosemary, salad and potato and leek soup.
Our challenge this weekend is to follow a recipe which incorporates one of these food items and photograph our creations. We will share some of these with you next week.

Dear Juniors,
Isn't it wonderful seeing vegetables grow. Wait until the weather becomes warmer- then see them go!

Studies of older people tell us that being a gardener helps people to live longer! So, if you want to be a 100, grow vegies!
