Today we walked to Wandinong Sanctuary to find out which mini-beasts live in this habitat. The sanctuary had lots of trees, logs, grass, mushrooms, fungus, rocks and damp soil.
The mini-beasts we found in this habitat were -
- slaters
- millipedes
- slugs
- bull ants
- earthworms
- blue worms
- ants
- snails
- witchetty grubs
- butterfies
- spiders
- baby scorpion
- mosquito
- baby fly
While we were at the sanctuary we found out that a family used to live there and when they died they gave the land to the Whitehorse Shire. The family lived there from 1914 to 1972. They planted trees and named them after their children. We also found out that one of their sons lives next door to the sanctuary.
We found out that rubbish can spoil the habitat for the mini-beasts so we now know that we need to protect the sanctuary so mini-beasts can keep living intheir habitat.

Hi Team Dellas, Thanks for an exciting excursion last Tuesday.
Dellas
Did you see any Orange Belly Parrots?
Dear Junior D,
It was wonderful to read all about your excursion to the Sanctuary. I did not know that scorpions lived there? I will be looking for them next time I am there.

It sounds like you had a great time. What was the biggest difference between the environment at school when compared to the sanctuary?

Dear Juniors,
What are Blue Worms? Are they blue? Do they help the environment?
Deborah And Sonya
The Sanctuary looks very interesting. Is the Blue worm really blue? Did you see any scary things there?
Congradulations on your great blog.

Hi Jun D, I have finally found the information to get onto your blog, so here I am....I am going to explore right now just like you all did when you went to Wandinong Sanctuary! I heard all about it from Ruby, in fact she still finds something new to tell me about it every day.
Keep up the blogging

Dear Juniors,
Awesome work!
I didn't realise that you could find so many minibeasts in one area!
You must have good eyesight and a determined teacher!
